We will be celebrating the Feast of Calan Haf (Beltane) at Trout Lake Abbey on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 5:30 pm. This will be a Welsh pantheon rite. Bydded Felly!

This is the rite of the beginnings of summer, of fertility, and of green and growing things.  It is said that in medieval days, folks would go out into the woods and lay with whomever they came across. Welcome to the lusty month of May!

It is also a rite to celebrate Nature, the Earth, and the Spirits of Nature. We honor those who share this world with us!

Weather permitting, we will hold this rite outdoors in the stone circle, and will dance the May Pole.  We will be honoring the Goddess Rhiannon (a horse and sovereignty Goddess) and her husband, the Hero Pwyll, Pen Annwfn, at this rite.  We will also honor the Spirits of the Land as life awakens here in the valley.

Please bring your own offerings to make to Rhiannon, Pwyll, or the other Spirits. Appropriate offerings include flowers, whiskey, horsey things, silver, oats, organic foods like apples and carrots, etc.  As always, praise offerings of song, poetry, dance, etc. are always welcome.

We are holding this ritual in the late afternoon so that we can dance the Maypole in the light and finish before the temperatures drop as evening descends. If it rains, we will be in the Mountain Room. There will be a potluck following the ritual, held in the main house.

We look forward to seeing you here on Saturday the 4th!
